Grounding Electrodes

A grounding electrode system is required by NEC Article 250 to establish the earth reference for an electrical system. E&S Grounding Solutions engineers design and evaluate grounding electrode systems for compliance with NEC, IEEE 80, and applicable local codes.

Common grounding electrode types include: ground rods (copper-clad steel, 5/8" minimum diameter), concrete-encased electrodes (Ufer grounds), ground rings, plate electrodes, and existing metal underground water piping. The NEC requires all available electrodes be bonded together into a grounding electrode system.

E&S Grounding Solutions performs grounding electrode system design, resistance-to-ground testing, and NEC compliance evaluations for commercial, industrial, utility, and data center facilities.
